Job Summary

Join ComPsych’s dynamic Business Applications team in a Senior API Developer role where you’ll implement cutting edge technologies to architect and develop enterprise APIs for the rapidly evolving healthcare and well-being sector. As a Senior API Developer, you’ll deliver mission-critical integrations and APIs, work with architects and the development team, and collaborate cross-functionally to build scalable, secure solutions that empower our business stakeholders. This role combines technical excellence with leadership in a collaborative, values-driven environment. Your success will be characterized by outstanding cross-functional team communication and collaboration to deliver enterprise level APIs that meet or exceed evolving business and technical goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, development, and deployment of high-performance APIs using platforms like MuleSoft or Spring Boot.
  • Work with the product team to understand end user requirements and translate it into an API specification.
  • Work with the architects and team to review the specification, complete the development and deployment of APIs or integrations.
  • Making sure the APIs and integrations are as per the standards and well tested, ensuring adherence to healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7/FHIR) and best practices in security, scalability, and observability.
  • Improve code quality by writing unit tests, code review, and by code scanning tools.
  • Manage APIs through API gateways, monitor and review the logs, and create API analytics dashboards and alerts.
  • Implement policies and manage policies through API gateways. Should be able to create custom policies if needed using languages like java/rust or in the language required by Gateways.
  • Collaborate with DevOps team to make sure APIs are deployed through CI/CD Pipelines. Should be able to create pipelines for new APIs.
  • Work in Agile/Scrum methodologies and a culture of continuous improvement.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent field. Master of Science preferred.
  • 7+ years of full lifecycle software development experience with focus on microservices, integrations and enterprise level APIs.
  • 3+ years of experience writing and managing APIs using platforms like MuleSoft or frameworks like Spring Boot.
  • Clear understanding of Integration patterns, Microservices, APIs and AsyncAPIs.
  • Expertise and Experience in:
    • MuleSoft 4.x (Anypoint Studio, API Manager, RAML/OAS, Anypoint Platform, Cloudhub, RTF, DataWeave, Monitoring and Governance).
    • Spring Boot (REST APIs, Spring Security, JPA/Hibernate).
    • Kong Gateway (plugins, OAuth2/JWT, rate limiting).
    • Java/JEE (Core, Spring Framework, JAX-RS).
  • Strong knowledge of relational (Oracle, SQL tuning) and NoSQL Databases.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Azure/AWS, containers and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable collaboration at all levels within the organization, including upper-level managers in various business units
  • Preferred certification: MuleSoft Developer, API Architect or Platform Architect.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Target salary $120-$130K
