Job Summary

The Associate Director, Absence Claims will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Absence Claims Operations department. This role is responsible for driving efficiency, ensuring SLA adherence, fostering a high-performing team, and leading strategic initiatives to achieve organizational goals.

Primary Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Absence Claims will serve as proactive leader to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the FMLA Operations department. This role is critical in driving departmental efficiency, ensuring service level agreement (SLA) adherence, fostering a high-performing team, and leading strategic initiatives that align with broader organizational goals. The Associate Director, Absence Claims will be responsible for developing and executing operational strategies, optimizing processes, leveraging data-driven insights, and championing continuous improvement to elevate the overall effectiveness and impact of the FMLA Operations function. This position requires a proactive leader with a strong strategic mindset, exceptional execution capabilities, and the ability to influence and collaborate across various stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute operational plans, resource allocation strategies, and performance targets for the department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to contribute to the overall organizational strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operational processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
  • Leverage data analytics and reporting to identify areas for process optimization and performance enhancement.
  • Champion the adoption of technology and automation to improve operational effectiveness and scalability.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor departmental performance against SLAs and strategic objectives.
  • Proactively analyze volumes, quality metrics, and other relevant data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and oversee complex departmental projects from initiation to successful completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, timelines, and budget.
  • Establish targets for the number of calls, emails, and claims monitored to ensure adequate quality oversight.
  • Ensure departmental adherence to all relevant FMLA regulations, company policies, and compliance standards.
  • Develop and present comprehensive reports on departmental performance, SLAs, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making and drive operational improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in absence management or disability management in a corporate or consulting environment required
  • 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Microsoft Office experience required
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and strong prioritization skills
