Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity in the large and growing segment of healthcare and well-being. As a member of the ComPsych Business Applications team, you will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and friendly work environment. In the role of Application Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for guiding, implementing, and supporting improvements for developer productivity, as well as application code observability, quality, and security in a predominately on-premise environment. Primary Responsibilities

  • Administer and support application development productivity tools – Atlassian application suite, Document Management, CI/CD, Dependency Management, and Static Code Quality Tools.
  • Monitor and escalate CI/CD job events, and Web Application Firewall anomalies.
  • Coordinate and deliver system patching support for applications and dependent systems.
  • Optimize and build automation tools for application verification and health monitoring.
  • Organize, prepare, and execute production application deployments in collaboration with application development teams.
  • Build dashboards for application performance, status, and event monitoring, as well as for project portfolio status reporting.
  • Collaborate with technology leadership to define improvements to software development processes, tools, and delivery pipeline; assess current state and work with teams to define, prioritize, and implement a backlog of improvements that includes but is not limited to changes to:
    • Improve software code quality; recommend and implement selected static and dynamic code checking tools; implement associated quality gates into the delivery pipeline
    • Increase application developer productivity by automating application testing and deployment
    • Improve application observability; define and implement appropriate instrumentation and associated dashboard monitoring of application reliability and performance
    • Increase application security; propose tools to scan and verify security; incorporate tools into delivery pipeline; work with system administrators and application development teams to facilitate verification of system patches

Job Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience with IT and Development Operations responsibilities focused on improving and automating software development, testing, monitoring, and deployment processes
  • System Admin experience with Atlassian Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Sonarqube, Nexus, and Jenkins or similar tools required.
  • Knowledge and experience of configuration management, middleware, and system administration in a predominately on-premise environment
  • Experience with Linux and Windows systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with disciplined and agile software development lifecycles, as well as ability to effectively apply practices from both lifecycles, preferred.
  • Undergraduate college degree required; a degree in computer science or engineering preferred.
  • Experience with REST and scripting languages preferred.
