Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with extensive experience in Linux systems to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing, supporting, and enhancing our IT infrastructure, with a heavy emphasis on troubleshooting Linux systems. This role demands a deep understanding of Linux environments, commonly used corporate applications, and a solid background in VMware or another virtualization platform. Familiarity with Windows systems and/or Azure is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage Linux-based infrastructure solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in Linux systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Maintain and optimize Linux servers, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Maintain and patch Linux systems and supporting applications.
  • Provide support for commonly used corporate applications, ensuring smooth operations and quick resolution of issues.
  • Support Linux environment on VMware and Azure platforms, including virtual machine creation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure IT infrastructure aligns with other IT and business needs.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
  • Implement and maintain business continuity solutions.
  • Automate processes using scripting.
  • Document systems configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference and training.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices to recommend innovative solutions.
  • Other tasks as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with load balancing solutions.
  • Strong expertise in Linux systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar), with a focus on troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with managing and supporting VMware environments.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and troubleshooting (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
  • Experience in automating tasks using Bash, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must occasionally travel to data centers to install, wire and configure systems.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Linux systems and their integration with Windows environments.
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or other is a plus.
  • Certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), VMware Certified Professional, or similar.
