Job Summary

As the manager of the level 3 engineering team, you will be one of the highest technical escalation points, leading various infrastructure efforts, managing projects across members of various teams, and identifying, designing, and deploying new solutions. This is a highly focused Manager of Infrastructure Services role and requires someone with deep technical knowledge of modern technologies.  This person will be responsible for the strategic direction of the team.

Primary Responsibilities

•    Manage the expectations and workloads of the Core Engineering team, ensuring work queues are optimized and not under or over allocated
•    Perform performance reviews of all employees in the Core Engineering team
•    Participate in annual budgets and project roadmaps
•    Balance direct and indirect technical business needs while prioritizing short and long term technical gains and ROI for the business
•    Act as Lead Project Manager and Lead Architect for team
•    Promote a healthy feedback loop between Level 3 core engineering and other groups, both adjacent and below
•    Keep up with emerging technical trends and provide new solutions to the business that solve real problems and/or otherwise optimize cost
•    Act as a mentor and advocate for the highly technical members of your team
•    Create technical environment facilitating retention of top talent
•    Occasionally act in a level 3 engineering capacity, contributing to technical troubleshooting for major, critical, or “stubborn” issues

Job Qualifications

•    10 years or more experience in IT engineering/architecture
•    1-3 years’ experience managing a team of 6 or more
•    1-3 years’ experience working in an Infrastructure Architecture role or performing similar duties
•    2-4 years’ experience managing projects
•    Broad IT engineering knowledge, including the ability to solution for Linux, Windows, and Virtualization domains
•    Must be a technical leader, comfortable diving deep into technical solutions/issues, both within and outside of the Core Engineering group’s immediate domains
•    Must possess well-developed soft skills, including the ability to know what people need to hear whether they be someone above or below you
•    Should be an empathetic leader
•    Excellent time management skills, able to juggle multiple deliverables and separate the chaff from the wheat
•    Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required
•    Technical certifications in one or more relevant domain preferred
•    Project management certification preferred
